ASEAN Defence Senior Officials' Meeting Plus (ADSOM-Plus) Working Group was held on February 16th, 2023 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The meeting was officially opened by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence of Indonesia, Air Marshal Donny Ermawan Taufanto, and led by the Chair of ADSOM-Plus WG, Director of Defence International Cooperation, BG Steverly C. Parengkuan.

The meeting was attended by all 10 ASEAN Member States and 8 Plus countries, namely Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russia, and USA, as well as the ASEAN Secretariat.

ASEAN Member States and Plus countries have been strengthening defence cooperation over the past 12 years. As chair, Indonesia urged to put aside differences, forge cooperation rather than competition, and seek peaceful solutions to any disputes.

The meeting aimed to reach agreement on some documents to be tabled at the upcoming ADSOM-Plus. To maintain Southeast Asia as a peaceful, stable and prosperous region, Indonesia underlined the need to nurture strategic trust and spirit of collaboration while respecting fundamental principles of international law.
