ASEAN Defence Senior Officials' Meeting (ADSOM) Working Group was held on February 14th - 15th, 2023 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The meeting was led by the Chair of ADSOM WG, Director of Defence International Cooperation, BG Steverly C. Parengkuan, and was attended by all 10 ASEAN Member States as well as the ASEAN Secretariat and the ASEAN Center of Military Medicine (ACMM).

The ADSOM WG meeting was the initial meeting of the ASEAN Member States' cooperation on the defence sector prior to the ADSOM and ADMM. As chair, Indonesia prioritizes forging ASEAN unity and centrality in shaping regional order in the Indo-Pacific and engaging all dialogue partners and countries in the Indo-Pacific to be the anchor for global peace and prosperity. Indonesia also commits to promote cooperation, not competition, and maintain ASEAN inclusiveness through the ADMM and ADMM-Plus framework by engaging dialogue partners and countries beyond the region to explore further cooperation with ASEAN Member States.

The ADSOM WG discussed, among others, updates on existing ADMM cooperations, new initiatives from the Chair, ADMM cooperation with dialogue partners and other cross-sectoral bodies, as well as preparation for next meetings.
