ASEAN Regional Forum Defence Officials' Dialogue (ARF DOD) was held on May 30th, 2023 in Dili, Timor-Leste. It was conducted back to back with the ASEAN Regional Forum Inter-Sessional Support Group Meeting on Confidence Buildng Measures and Preventive Diplomacy (ARF ISG CBMs & PD) which was held on May 31st, 2023.

The meeting was led by Director for Defence International Cooperation, Ministry of Defence of Indonesia, BG Steverly C. Parengkuan, and Director General of International Relations, Timor-Leste Ministry of Defence, Mr. Nuno Carvalho do Santos with a keynote speech given by Director General of Defence Strategy, Ministry of Defence of Indonesia, MG Bambang Trisnohadi.

The meeting was attended by representatives from ARF countries and the ASEAN Secretariat. However, delegations from the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea, Mongolia, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea and Sri Lanka were unable to attend. The ARF DOD meeting is the first collaboration of its kind between Indonesia and Timor-Leste's Ministry of Defence in a multilateral forum in the region where it shows Indonesia's commitment to assist Timor-Leste in its efforts to gain full membership status in ASEAN. The meeting also facilitates discussion between ARF countries on three issues, namely the defence sector's relationship to blue economy, security threats rising from climate change and post COVID-19 cooperation.
